Madonna Has Paid Tribute To Director Alan Parker, Following His Tragic Death

The acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker died aged 76, with a family spokesperson stating his death followed a ‘lengthy illness’. And the La Isla Bonita singer recalled working with the late icon on the set of Evita.

Taking to Instagram, the 61-year-old shared a string of photos with Alan, alongside the message: ‘I was so sad to hear about the passing of Alan Parker.

‘One of the greatest directors I ever worked with on the film Evita.  ‘He taught me so much, believed in me, pushed me to my limits and made an incredible film! Thank you!’ Alan won critical acclaim for his film, Evita

She earned a Golden Globe for her appearance in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Broadway masterpiece. Alan Parker tragically died on Friday, aged 76

As well as Evita, he also directed Bugsy Malone in 1976, Midnight Express in 1978, and Fame in 1980. The filmmaker died in London on Friday morning, with his spokesperson confirming the sad news in a statement.

Following the announcement, a string of famous faces paid tribute.  James Bond director Barbara Broccoli said: ‘It is an enormous loss to the world of cinema and a huge personal loss to his devoted family and friends who loved and admired him.

While David Puttnam added: ‘Alan was my oldest and closest friend, I was always in awe of his talent.  ‘My life and those of many others who loved and respected him will never be the same again.’
