Aston Villa Ace Shares How Liverpool Player Reacted To 7-2 Defeat On International Duty

John McGinn has told Sky Sports News (06/10/20 at 8:35 am) that Andy Robertson has reacted in a ‘respectful’ manner on international duty to Aston Villa’s thumping 7-2 win over Liverpool from the weekend.

Both McGinn and Robertson started the enthralling encounter at Villa Park and only days later they are now on international duty with Scotland.

In a night to forget for Liverpool, they suffered their worst defeat in decades, whilst Villa maintained their 100% to the campaign in a fashion that not even their most ardent of fans would have imagined them to.

McGinn made it clear that he’s hoping to take that ‘confidence’ onto international duty with Scotland, as he praised Robertson for remaining level-headed about the defeat.

“Bit strange, obviously I didn’t expect it, to beat the world champions, never mind so convincingly,” McGinn told Sky Sports.

“Confidence is high in the Villa camp and I can only try to use the confidence I have at the minute to help my country and hopefully I can do that.

On what Robertson said to him: “He was good and respectful. He understands. I think he has won every other game in the past three or four years so he can give us one.”

Liverpool have been utterly dominant in recent years, so it will be interesting to see how Klopp reacts to this result after the international break is over.

It’s clear that there shouldn’t be an overreaction because they are Premier League champions for a reason, but to concede seven at any level has to result in serious questions being asked.

As for Villa, after needing the final few minutes of last season to survive relegation, they will be hoping their start, and the recent result, will help them push up that table and prove that they are top 10 worthy this term.
