Javier Bordas, former director of Barcelona, revealed some previously unknown details about the planned movements of the previous board.
The last offer for Neymar, the possibility of signing Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé together…
Only a few days after his last interview, Javier Bordas spoke to ‘El Partidazo de COPE’, to offer more information on Josep Maria Bartomeu’s ambitions for the club. He, as a former executive, had privileged information about the movements.
In that last talk he acknowledged the negotiations for Neymar’s return, something that was not finally completed. But Bordas, on this occasion, explained the details of the last planned movement by Barcelona.
Bordas admitted that Barcelona even offered Jean-Clair Todibo, Ivan Rakitic and the loan of Ousmane Dembélé for a season plus another 110 million euros. PSG, for its part, did not accept, as it was demanding 130 million, plus the other three conditions.
The club also scouted the addition of Kylian Mbappé just in the year he left Monaco. Just after Ney’s departure, the team needed an attacking player and the Frenchman came within range.
“Monaco preferred not to strengthen a direct rival. Mbappé liked Barca and the option of taking Neymar’s place. We would have taken him for about 100 million. It wasn’t done because they preferred Dembélé,” he said.
Bordas surprised everyone when he revealed that the club began an offensive to try to sign the two French players in the same market. What could Barca have achieved with both Mbappe and Dembele in the same team?
