According to a report revealed by ‘Marca’, the 2019-20 Copa del Rey final between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad will be played on 4th April at La Cartuja.
The plans of the Spanish FA are being revealed ahead of the Copa del Rey schedule, both with the pending final of last season as well as this season’s edition.
According to information published by ‘Marca’, the final between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad will reportedly be played on 4th April 2021. The chosen stadium is the Olympic Stadium de La Cartuja (Seville), the same that was initially scheduled.
Both clubs decided to delay the match last season because of COVID-19, as the pandemic meant that if it was played there would be no fans in the stands. The RFEF agreed but forced the match to be played before the end of the following season.
It is unknown if there will be fans in the stadium for this new date. The future of the pandemic will set the rules, although Irene Lozano, president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes, has already left in the air that for the final stretch of the season it is not ruled out that the fans will return to the stadiums.
‘Marca’ also revealed the possible date for the final of this season’s Copa del Rey. This would take place two weeks later, 18th April, at the same location.
