The centre-back Stefan Savic wasn’t able to play against Azerbaijan and his muscle problems open the door again to a Felipe that hasn’t played since the end of October.
Stefan Savic and Giménez have been the players chosen by Simeone for the centre of defence and Felipe has played second fiddle since the end of October.
The Montenegrin couldn’t play the match against Azerbaijan because he dropped out the squad at the last minute because of muscle problems in the left thigh, so he will have to sit tests.
If he doesn’t make the important clash against Barcelona next weekend, Simeone will play a Felipe again who has contributed a lot and played well when he has had the chance.
However, the Brazilian hasn’t played since 27th October, as he remained on the bench against Osasuna, Lokomotiv Moscow and Cádiz, so he will have the chance to rebuild confidence and show that he is up for playing more than he has in recent weeks
If Stefan Savic doesn’t make it, and Simeone doesn’t risk it, the duo in the centre of defence will be made up of Giménez and Felipe.
