Jose Mourinho Drops Dele Alli Team News Hint Ahead Of Tottenham’s Europa League Clash

Jose Mourinho has said Dele Alli has his respect – but the Tottenham Hotspur boss would not confirm whether he will feature in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

Alli has fallen out of favour at Spurs, having been hooked at half-time in the Premier League opener against Everton and not featuring in the league since then.

The 24-year-old, who was a key player under Mauricio Pochettino, has been linked with a move away from the club, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly one of the sides keen.

Alli was again excluded from the squad as Tottenham beat Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, but the demanding schedule on Mourinho’s men throws up another potential opportunity for him tomorrow (Thursday).

Spurs welcome Maccabi Haifa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Europa League play-off round, with Mourinho likely to make changes as the game comes just 48 hours after Chelsea and three days before a clash with Manchester United.

However, the Spurs boss would not be drawn on whether Alli would start or not.

“I cannot confirm if he’s playing or not,” Mourinho said at his pre-match press conference.

“The only thing I can say is that he is being very professional.

“Even yesterday, he trained very hard and he has the respect of his team-mates and me.”
