Ronald Koeman and Frenkie de Jong agree. After his league match against Sevilla, the player admitted that he wasn’t at the level he expects from himself. His coach discussed it in a press conference before his match against Getafe, saying that he “didn’t perform well”.
De Jong didn’t play well in the league game against Sevilla. He knows it and admitted it, and his coach, Koeman, discussed the performance in his latest conference and acknowledged that the player has to play better in the future.
“In the game against Sevilla, Frenkie wasn’t at his best. If there are players are too self-criticism Frenkie is one of them. He knows exactly when he does well and when he needs to improve”, said the coach, but he quickly changed his tone to defend the player.
“In the Italy-Holland match, he was the best player on the pitch. Every player is allowed to have a bad game now and then. I hope that he kicks-on and is at his best. No one should forget just how young a player he is. I’m not worried about it”, he added.
The next four games will be the time for the player to show if he can get back to his best. If he becomes a key player on the pitch, it would mark a great comeback, and he will win Koeman and Barca over for good.
