French paper ‘L’Equipe’ says that the Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Nice will be called off due to the coronavirus cases in the away team. It just remains for the French league to confirm the news officially.
Nice have got more than 12 cases of coronavirus in their team so their game with Marseille in Ligue 1 will not be played. The decision is not yet official, but the reputable French newspaper ‘L’Equipe’, says it is a certainty.
Both clubs are waiting for the relevant paperwork to be processed so they can announce the match will not take place. A new date for the game will have to be found.
It could be played one midweek or some time later in the season. In any case, this will prevent the virus spreading among the two teams and Nice will not have to field a severely weakened side.
The case which could have led to the postponement could be Jordan Lotomba’s. His result came about when he was already with his national team. Now the decision rests with the French league (LFP).
