PSG Looks To Strengthen Global Ambitions With 10-Year Fanatics Partnership

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain has announced a 10-year extension of its partnership with global licensed sports merchandise manufacturer and retailer Fanatics.

The agreement replaces the e-commerce-only agreement between the two parties, providing Fanatics with an even broader set of e-commerce rights as well as new manufacturing rights and management of the club’s apparel, headwear, and hard goods licensing program.

As such, Fanatics will become the master licensee for PSG’s full merchandise portfolio aside from previously-arranged initiatives with Nike and its Jordan Brand subsidiary.

According to CNBC, the e-commerce, manufacturing and licensing deal is the largest financial commitment that Fanatics has agreed with a sports team in its quarter century of operation. The partnership will begin this summer and run until 2030.

In the short term, the two parties will aim to expand the club’s e-commerce business by at least three times over the next 36 months by tapping into Fanatics’ database of 45 million active clients in all key PSG markets, which include Europe, North America, and Asia.

With Fanatics opening access to more than 1,000 of its licensees, PSG will also aim to double its own licensees in the next two years.

“The expansion will propel the Paris Saint-Germain merchandising business into one of the biggest in the world of sport,” Fanatics said in a statement.

“This agreement marks yet another new chapter in Paris Saint-Germain’s ambitious growth story,” PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi told CNBC. “In Fanatics, we are partnering with the global leader of sports merchandising, a collaboration which will bring with it a vast array of unique commercial opportunities across the globe.

“Over the next 10 years, Paris Saint-Germain and Fanatics will work to further enhance the reach and appeal of the Club’s brand and merchandising excellence. Through enriching our product offer and in extending the Club’s footprint into new markets, this collaboration will serve as one of the core pillars of our commercial strategy,” Al-Khelaifi said.
