Ronald Koeman held a press conference ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League match with Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday at 21:00 CET. He asked for patience after not scoring many goals against Alaves.
Barcelona will face Dynamo Kiev in a key game for Barcelona, but COVID-19 has affected the Ukrainian side. They have lost up to six players in the last few hours.
“We’ve spoken, I know that Dynamo have coronavirus problems. This Tuesday, the tests have been done and we have the results in the afternoon, but we hope we can play,” Koeman explained. “We have the influence of COVID-19 in our lives. That situation could affect our opponents, but the same thing happened to Shakhtar and we saw them beat Real Madrid.”
On the squad list, Koeman talked about several aspects. On Ter Stegen, he says he looks good to return soon. “He’s been training with the time for a week and we think he looks good. On Wednesday we will have our last training session and then give the squad list. You have to wait.”
On the the team’s poor form. “Of course getting two points from 12 is not what we want, but I’ve received comments that people are happy because of the way we’ve played. Also because we’ve been making changes, giving young players a chance which is something positive, but we need to win more games.”

Koeman, on the other hand, analysed the prospect of having a number 9 in January, but he cautious because of Barca’s financial difficulties. “Everyone knows my position on this, we have to wait, I came knowing the club’s financial situation. If it’s not possible, we will work with what we’ve got,” he indicated.
He also talked about Tonny Bruins Slot, a former Barca worker who has had a good relationship with Koeman: “It was very sad news because I knew him and his family very well. Here he was a fantastic assistant to Johan and Charly. He was also a marvellous person, we’re going to miss him.”
“I respect all opinions, but I can only say that he’s a very, very good player, the best in the world, but for me he’s not difficult to manage. It depends on each person’s personality, I don’t agree with those comments, but I respect it. I talk to Messi every week,” he said in response to Quique Setien’s comments on Lionel Messi.
